Health Care Management – Causal Inference (under discussion)
This research project responds to calls for regulators, industry and patients to ensure that key questions unresolved at the time of drug and device approval are addressed during the post-marketing phase. It also aligns with recommendations for governments to support the generation of comparative post-marketing data through collaborative research networks, improved data systems, and appropriate financial incentives.
Impact HTA supports initiatives that enhance the validity, availability and usability of routine health care data. Further methodological research is needed to identify optimal approaches for combining evidence from randomised and non-randomised studies, particularly in unanchored comparisons.
The project is currently in the scoping stage, with roundtable discussions on general applications and specific case examples. MedTech and pharma cases are foreseen, including the use of synthetic data as part of the data sources.
